Who We Are

Masjid Al-Wasatiyyah Wal-I’tidaal (MAWI) was founded and named in 2010 by Imam Okasha Kameny as a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting moderation, upholding Islamic values, and serving the Muslim community through education, worship, and charitable work.

Rooted in Islamic principles and guided by the Qur’an and Sunnah, MAWI serves as a center for religious, educational, and community-based initiatives. From daily prayers to welfare programs, MAWI seeks to foster an inclusive environment where Muslims can grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially, while contributing to the wider society with integrity, responsibility, and purpose.

Our Mission

Our mission is to elevate the Muslim-American way of life through the dissemination of authentic Islamic knowledge, the provision of essential community resources, and the nurturing of spiritual growth. Through religious, educational, and social services, we work to build a just, empowered community that embodies faith, compassion, and accountability.

Our Vision

Our vision is to cultivate opportunities for every individual to discover and embrace the truth of Islam by developing exceptional resources and fostering intellectual growth within Islamic academia in the West. We aspire to build a community where education, innovation, and collaboration thrive, allowing Muslims to contribute meaningfully to society while upholding the values of justice, moderation, and service.
